Reykjavik Marathon 2026

Where Marathon Running Meets Raw Nature

Race Beyond invites you to experience the Reykjavik Marathon 2026 – a race defined by dramatic landscapes, cool summer temperatures and the unique energy of Iceland’s capital. This is marathon travel focused on what matters most: a well-organized race, a walkable city base and unforgettable scenery at every turn.

Our Signature Reykjavik Marathon trip is designed for runners who want more than just race day. Stay centrally in Reykjavik, explore Iceland’s iconic south coast, recover in geothermal hot springs and enjoy expert, on-the-ground support from the Race Beyond team throughout the weekend.

The Race

The Reykjavik Marathon offers a fast, scenic course through the city and along the coastline, passing lakes, parks and ocean views with minimal crowd congestion. August conditions are ideal for distance running, making Reykjavik a favorite for runners seeking a relaxed yet high-quality international marathon experience.

Race distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run, all held on the same day.

The Location

Reykjavik is one of Europe’s most distinctive capitals – compact, creative and surrounded by some of the world’s most striking natural landscapes. Beyond race day, Iceland’s waterfalls, black sand beaches and geothermal hot springs are easily accessible, making this an ideal destination to combine running with exploration and recovery.
