The Race
The Reykjavik Marathon offers a fast, scenic course through the city and along the coastline, passing lakes, parks and ocean views with minimal crowd congestion. August conditions are ideal for distance running, making Reykjavik a favorite for runners seeking a relaxed yet high-quality international marathon experience.
Race distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run, all held on the same day.
The Location
Reykjavik is one of Europe’s most distinctive capitals – compact, creative and surrounded by some of the world’s most striking natural landscapes. Beyond race day, Iceland’s waterfalls, black sand beaches and geothermal hot springs are easily accessible, making this an ideal destination to combine running with exploration and recovery.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Thursday, August 20
Arrival & Expo
Arrive in Reykjavik and transfer independently to your hotel from Keflavik Airport via FlyBus+ (available on arrival). In the afternoon, meet your Race Beyond hosts and walk together to the Marathon Expo to collect race bibs. Evening at leisure to explore Reykjavik’s restaurants, cafés, and waterfront.Overnight in Reykjavik

Day 2 - Friday, August 21
South Coast Full-Day Tour
A relaxed pre-race day exploring Iceland’s dramatic South Coast on a guided small-group excursion. Travel by luxury minibus through volcanic landscapes with expert local commentary, stopping at some of Iceland’s most iconic natural landmarks.
Highlights include Seljalandsfoss (with the opportunity to walk behind the waterfall), Skógafoss, close-up views of Sólheimajökull Glacier, and a walk along Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach with its basalt columns and sea stacks. A short photo stop is also made in the coastal village of Vík.
Departure is in the morning (approx. 8:00–9:00am) with return to Reykjavik in the early evening (approx. 6:00–6:30pm). A lunch stop is included along the route.

Day 3 - Saturday, August 22
Race Day
Race day in Reykjavik. This morning, we’ll make our way together to the start line for the Reykjavik Marathon events. The Marathon and Half Marathon start at 8:40am, followed by the 10K at 9:40am. The course runs through the city and along the coastline, offering sea views and cool summer running conditions.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to celebrate your finish and explore Reykjavik. In the evening, enjoy Culture Night, when the city hosts live music, street events, and a city-wide fireworks display.

Day 4 - Sunday, August 23
Hvammsvík Hot Springs
Enjoy a relaxed post-race recovery day with a half-day excursion to Hvammsvík Hot Springs, one of Iceland’s most scenic and secluded geothermal bathing experiences. Travel comfortably from Reykjavik into the countryside as city views give way to fjords, mountains, and untouched coastal landscapes.
On arrival, unwind in the warm, mineral-rich geothermal pools set directly on the shoreline, with panoramic views across the fjord. Hvammsvík offers a quieter, more natural alternative to larger spas, making it an ideal place to relax and recharge after race weekend.
After time at the springs, return to Reykjavik feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Day 5 - Monday, August 24
Departure or Optional Extension
Today, transfer independently to Keflavik International Airport via FlyBus+ for return flights, or continue your journey with an optional extension.
